Houston, Texas, April 7, 2014 – NAS, a leading provider of insurance and risk management services for public entities, has become an official TASBO sponsor and provider of continuing education credits for school finance and operations professionals. As an official sponsor, NAS will support TASBO – Texas Association of School Business Officials – in its mission to provide trusted resources to school finance and operations professionals in Texas.
TASBO is part of ASBO, Association of School Business Officials International, which serves members from the U.S., Canada, and other countries. TASBO has approximately 5,600 members and 29 regional affiliates, representing more than 850 public school districts in Texas.
Providing CE Credits to School Officials
NAS will support TASBO as an educational resource at the TASBO Annual Conference and during monthly regional affiliate meetings which bring in trusted resources on finance, school regulations and risk management. At this time, there are 30 regional TASBO affiliates in Texas. Affiliates are local organizations or specialty groups (such as Maintenance and Operations) with a goal to advance the profession through education, communication, recognition, information and innovation. Regional affiliate meetings provide personal and professional development programs in addition to networking opportunities with other school business and operations professionals.
To this end, NAS will provide continuing education credit courses featuring risk management curriculum designed specifically for school business and operations professionals. “The courses are intended to help school officials manage risk more efficiently, maximizing time and money which can be put to use in the class rooms,” says Jack Melton, President and CEO of NAS.
Schools face risks that are significantly different than those faced by commercial businesses, and for more than 20 years, NAS has been an industry leader in providing highly successful insurance and risk management strategies for schools. The TASBO annual conference alone brings together more than 2,700 school finance and operations professionals, providing more than 80 courses and more than 125 learning sessions.
Serving more than 4,000 public entities, and more than 1,000,000 customers in 23 countries, the NAS family of companies has the global resources to help clients develop long-term strategic solutions. NAS embraces a consultative approach rooted in its core values. This approach allows NAS to build long-term relationships as its client’s trusted insurance and risk management advisor.
